Share-a-thon and Bi-annual General Meeting

Share-a-thons are usually a day of meetings centered around a theme for the day. They are held twice a year in March and September and include the intergroup bi-annual general meetings and service position elections.

Unity Day – February

Unity Day is a day to celebrate the connection of all members and groups of OA to one another.

All members of OA are encouraged to take a moment of silence to express their gratitude for the OA Program.

Region 10 Assembly and Convention

Assembly:

Generally, assembly provides a forum for Overeaters Anonymous Region Ten Intergroups to discuss issues, swap ideas, and conduct the formal business of the region. Region Ten consists of Service Bodies and Intergroups in New Zealand, Australia, the Far East, South East Asia, and the Western Pacific Basin. Observers are welcome at Assembly, however only elected representatives may vote.

Convention:

Convention is an opportunity for fellowship, as members from all over the region share their experience, strength and hope. There will be workshops, meetings and speakers through out the weekend, celebrating the many ways we practice these principles in all our affairs.

This year the convention includes sessions on the following:

  • Maintaining abstinence in times of crisis

  • Body image, relationships and sexuality

  • Sponsorship

  • Building a relationship with a higher power

  • Long timer abstinence

  • Service in a virtual world

  • Q&A (Ask it basket)

This will be an excellent event and a great way to get extra program into your days, as well as meet other members and can be a brilliant opportunity to find a sponsor.

World Service Business Conference (WSBC)

The WSBC, attended by delegates from around the world, meets annually each May to conduct the business of OA and to elect the 16-member Board of Trustees. The board acts on behalf of all members of the OA Fellowship. The World Service Office (WSO) works with the BOT to provide quality support and services to the entire OA Fellowship. Click here for more information.

I.D.E.A. – International Day Experiencing Abstinence

Since 1992, on the third full weekend (Friday included) in November, members of Overeaters Anonymous worldwide observe an International Day of Experiencing Abstinence (IDEA). The OA Fellowship created IDEA Day to encourage members and newcomers to abstain from compulsive overeating.

12TH STEP WITHIN DAY

On the 12th of December (12/12) OA service boards, meetings and individual members are encouraged to reach out to those within the Fellowship who are still suffering from compulsive eating behaviours.

OA’s BIRTHDAY

Celebrated on the third full weekend (Friday included) of January each year.
